The
colour pink in diamonds is
truly
another one of nature's
marvels.
As opposed to the other
colours
in diamonds which lend their
colours to trace elements,
these
elements are never found in
pink
diamonds.
The
pink colour is caused by a
distortion in the diamond's
crystal lattice (or make up)
during its violent birth
over 1.58 billion
years
ago.
This
distortion or plastic
deformation was created by
the
intense heat and
enormous
pressure pushing from all
directions as the stone was
being forced to the earth's
surface during a volcanic
explosion originating deep
within our earths mantle.
This
distortion created a flaw in
the
lattice work of the diamond
which in turn makes the
diamond
refract light in the pink
spectrum.
